My high school teacher
said that one of my classmates
had much turbulence
He said this about his soul
"Turbulent soul" stayed with me
Instead of saying
a bird that flies she called it
the thing with feathers
thus allowing it to slip
gently inside of your soul

16 - "I Went Down Virginia..."

John Fogerty asked
"Have you ever seen the rain?"
And "Who'll stop the rain?"
He who sees it can stop it
By finding shelter from it

"Shelter from the storm"
Dylan wrote for all of us
Yearning for shelter
Waiting to be taken in
Out of the "road full of mud"

There is a sandstorm
I safely enter my tent
Sheltered from the storm
Amazed I exit the tent
To find that the storm has stopped

Good old Colin Hay
sings with heart, "Send somebody,"
as he waits on hold
and I say a brief real prayer
that we be sent who we need

Did George Harrison
think of his fans, I wonder
as I think of him
as his song welcomes the sun
as his song soothes me to sleep

7:08 AM
most people run late
that is, later than they say
when going my way
i think and write this and wait
for my 6:55 ride

10 (Written last night, in the middle of the night)

Many the reason
why asleep or why awake
why real or why fake
for the turn and for the toss
for the benefit and loss
